If your tenant has multifactor authentication turned on, and you try to use SharePoint designer, you will encounter the error “The Web Server does not appear to have any authentication methods enabled”. If you are lucky and app password generation is not disabled on your tenant, then you can use app password.

If you can’t use app password, do the following to access SharePoint with the designer.

  1. You need to enable modern authentication for Office 2013 clients. To enable modern authentication for any devices running Windows, you need to set the following registry keys. The keys have to be set on each device that you want to enable for modern authentication:
